With Your Class
Students must be with your homeroom teacher during Library CLASS time.
Be sure to follow your classroom and school rules & procedures.
With A Library Pass
Present your official library pass as you enter the library. Homeroom teachers issue the library passes.
Sign in and indicate the purpose of your visit. Keep track of your time during your library visit.
Sign out and bring your library pass back to your homeroom teacher.
Purpose for Visit
Class = Teacher stays for the class' regular library visit – every two weeks.
Read = Patron signs in to read books in the library or return and check out books.
Research = Patron signs in to request or search for information.
Computer = Patron signs in to use computer for studying, class work, or homework.
Teacher must provide a note or email [email protected] regarding the purpose of the computer work.
Back Packs & Lunch Bags
Put school bags and lunch bags under the display table near the front door or as directed by teacher.
Be sure drink bottles are secured & standing upright. Clean up any mess immediately.

Students must read the library books AT SCHOOL in their classrooms and NOT take the books home :( This will minimize loss of the library books.

Teachers, please have your books brought to the library on the morning before your class visit or 2:00 PM the afternoon before your class visit.
Stack neatly on the circulation desk the books to be checked in.
Tell the Librarian if your book is lost or damaged in order to clear your record.
Borrowed books must be returned in order to renew or check out books.
Looking for Books ~ re-instated once Library Class in the Library resumes.
Use the shelf markers or rulers to mark the place on the shelf where the book is from.
Return the book on the shelf and remove the shelf marker or ruler. If you don't know where the book is from, place the book on the return cart or give the book to the Librarian.
Return the shelf marker or ruler at the circulation desk once you have your book.
Checking Out Books

Be sure the book has been properly scanned.
Let the Librarian know if the books need a pocket or other identifying items.
Kindergarten - Grade 2 students are allowed to check out one (1) book.
Grade 3 - 5 students are allowed to check out two (2) books.
Taking Care of Books
Be sure hands are clean and dry when handling library books.
Keep the books clean and dry. Wrap the books in a clean, dry plastic bag if taking the books home and when returning the books to school.
Do not bend the covers or the pages. Lift the corner of the page from the top or bottom right and slide fingers behind the page while gently turning.
Do not make any marks in the book. Erase any marks.
PLEASE Wipe the outside of the books with Lysol or similar product before returning the books to school. Be sure to NOT soak the books.
Tell the Librarian if the book is damaged or has any scribbles in the pages.
Overdue, Lost or Damaged Books
Overdue books must be returned before borrowing more books.
Lost, stolen, or damaged books must be paid for based on the replacement value for the book plus shipping and handling costs. Students may not borrow any books until this is settled. Payments are arranged with the Librarian.

The DLPES Library Collection – books and resources – may be used by patrons – teachers, staff, and students. Some shelves have certain conditions. Instructional Resources are reserved for teachers and staff. Periodicals and References are used only in the library; however, teachers and staff may reserve them as needed for instruction.

Use your assigned computer if available or otherwise directed.
With Class
Each class has a regular library computer lab schedule of 60 minutes with their teacher.
Each student must use the assigned computer unless otherwise directed.
Each teacher will direct the use of the computer and lessons.
Be sure to follow your classroom and school rules & procedures, especially if Library Classes are concurrent.

Place headphone ON the table IN FRONT of the keyboard.
Do NOT shut down or turn off computer / monitors in the Library Computer Lab.
Saving Work on the Computer
The library is NOT responsible for any work on the computer.
Be sure to label your work clearly with a name & the date, e.g. Student Name Book Report 10.20.2020
Be sure to use the assigned computer for any saved work. NO personal flash drives allowed.
Be sure to ask for permission BEFORE downloading from online.
Reserve in advance if you have projects due.
Delete any work that has already been saved to a school flash drive or published- with parent permission - on the web.
ALL work will be deleted at the end of the school year.
