National School Library Standards
The National School Library Standards, which was developed through the AASL, guides instruction of library and information science in the public school libraries for all grade levels. The Framework coordinates the three sets of standards for the Learner, School Librarian, and School Library using the four Domains of Think, Create, Share, Grow into the six foundational skills - Shared Foundations - Inquire, Include, Collaborate, Curate, Explore, Engage.

I can tell where to find the Fiction - Everybody books, Fiction - Chapter books, Non-fiction books, Biography books, and Reference books.
I can tell that F on the spine label means Fiction.
I can tell that the numbers on the first line of the spine label indicates Non-fiction.
I can tell that the letters on the second line of the spine label indicates the first three letters of the author's las name.
I can tell that Fiction means a story with characters and events that have been created by the author and or illustrator.
I can tell that Non-fiction means an information book about a topic gathered from experts in that field.
I can tell two or more fiction genres.
I can tell that Non-Fiction books are organized using the Dewey Decimal Classification System (DDCS).
I can tell two or more categories in the DDCS.
